About
Mams Radio is an urban contemporary radio station with a feel good sound of music and relevant content. The station was launched on 11 April 2011 and reflects the lives of all races in South Africa’s most progressive and exciting region. The station oozes with pride of the mother of melodies, “the home of jazz” Mamelodi ya Tshwane, blending the unique sound of Pitori lingo, and the enthusiastic media personalities to produce seasonal radio programmes. Our local stories, powerful history, heritage and township vibe, captures the imagination of the youth and creates a dialogues that bridges the gap between the young and old. We are based in Mamelodi and operate under the greater Tshwane Municipality, with future aspirations to be a leading community radio station of choice in the community radio sector. We drive the masses through our unique sound wherein we provide educational, health, business, current affairs, entertainment, sports and community empowerment programmes. We strive to serve the needs of the community.
The stations compliancy guide consist of 60% talk and 40% music according to Independent Communications Authority Of South Africa (“ICASA”) approved licence. Mams Radio broadcasts 24 (twenty) hours a daily and 7 (seven) days a week on 92.9 signal frequency. The current listenership stands on or about 176 000 (one hundred and seventy six thousand) and more according to independent community radio rating agency.
Our station identity sound offers a diverse mix of adult contemporary music which includes Afro Pop, R&B, Soul, and Jazz and our airwaves are dominated by the youth driven House, Hip Hop, Bacardi, Amapiano and Quantum Sound.
